How this finder works
The crossword helper fills one slot from the letters you can already see. Enter known letters in order and a blank for each hole. A pattern such as C _ A _ S only matches five-letter words with C, A, and S in those seats.
This is a finder, not a clue solver. We do not read the clue or suggest themes. If you are stuck on a first letter, browse words starting with Q or pick a length from 5-letter words.
Type the letters you see, insert a blank for each unknown square, set Length if the slot is empty, then press Show matches. Options can require a letter, exclude a letter, or limit the pool to tiles you still have. For a full rack with no pattern, use Unscramble.
Questions
- How do I enter unknown squares?
- Tap Insert blank. Each tap adds one hole, shown as an open square. You can also type ? or an underscore. The example under the field is C _ A _ S.
- Do I have to set a length?
- If the pattern already has the right number of characters, length follows the pattern. The Length list is there when you know the slot size before you know any letters — it will fill the field with blanks.
- Which dictionary is this?
- Words are checked against ENABLE, a public U.S. list used for Scrabble-style play. It is not the official tournament book, and it is not a defining dictionary. Tournament TWL and international CSW are not loaded yet.
- Is this a crossword dictionary?
- No. We will not explain a clue or confirm a proper noun the puzzle editor allows. We only say which words fit the letters you typed.
- How is this different from Unscramble?
- Unscramble ignores order: any arrangement of your tiles is allowed. The crossword helper requires order. Known letters stay in their seats; blanks can be any letter.
